Foodies on Tour @ Global Village
Myself and a bunch of bloggers were recently invited to a food tour of Global Village in partnership with the Dubai Food Festival. There are over hundreds of food stalls alone in GV so it makes choosing where to eat quite a task. Luckily for us we didn’t have to decide.
After a bit of a kafuffle at the gate, we were eventually let in and led to our first stop – Thai Fruits. We could choose from a variety of authentic imported Thai fruits on offer. I tried guava, rose apple, green mango and also shared a coconut with my friend. It was my first time trying some of these fruits even though I have travelled to Thailand and I must say I was impressed. Some of them even came with a small sachet of spicy salt to enhance the flavor. My favorite by far was the rose apple which had a similar taste to that of a nashi pear.
We then trotted over to Kebab & Pizza, a Romanian stall specializing in pizza served in a cone. We got to choose from 4 different flavors including vegetarian, supreme, pepperoni and magherita. We watched the pizzas being cooked in front of us on a cone carousel and got to eat them fresh out of the oven. Oozing with cheese and flavor I can definitely recommend the pepperoni flavor.
Next stop on the food trail was the Witch Bar which offers various spooky drinks some which bubble others which smoke and even ones served to you in a blood bag. It’s like Halloween came early. The bloody juice which I enjoyed is a mixture of pomegranate and soda.
Then we went to Ya Weely for some pasta and dynamite shrimps. Unfortunately these shrimps are small and cooked from frozen so don’t expect anything like PF Changs. The chicken alfredo was also a little bland for my liking.
We then popped over to Balqees Konafa for dessert. The Dubai food festival special at Balqees Konafa is a half half konafa with lotus biscoff and Nutella spread. YES PLEASE! This was the highlight of the food tour for me. So much YUM in every bite. Mixing the two flavors together was just a dream as well. Chocolate and caramel with that stringy cheese underneath, just divine. I’ll be going back for another soon!
Our final stop was Taza Tea for some Moroccan Tea as digestive. The freshly made minty tea is served with or without sugar. Taza also serve virgin mojitos should you fancy a cold beverage.
In conclusion I got to try some amazing variety of foods from vendors I’d never even heard about before. There is so much food on offer from all over the globe, you’ll have a hard time choosing.
