Din Tai Fung comes to Dubai

Once an oil retailer that was on the verge of closing down, Din Tai Fung has been making Xiao Long Bao dumplings in Taiwan since 1972 and now has over 100 branches worldwide.
Made fresh in-house these bite size soup dumplings are one of the best I’ve tasted in my life and with Michelin stars to it’s name, it’s not surprising.
I thank my lucky stars for social media as I had no idea otherwise that a branch was opening in the Level 2 expansion of Mall of the Emirates, with little to no advertising it snuck under my dumpling radar.
Being of Asian heritage, going for yum cha (dim sum) is a weekend ritual where hours are spent around a lazy susan with family chatting, eating and drinking tea.
Therefore dumplings are one of my favorite foods. Din Tai Fung offers a variety of xiao long bao, pot stickers, siu mai, steamed buns, soups, noodles dishes and desserts.
On this occasion we had the chicken xiao long bao, the chicken truffle xiao long bao, the mutton pot stickers, the steamed mushroom & vegetable dumplings, the shrimp & chicken wonton soup and the beef chow mein with a pot of refillable Chinese tea. My favorite being the xiao long bao dumplings, hands down.
The service here is impeccable and the waitresses and chefs are all of Asian descent.
This place will definitely be my new favorite hang out and I personally think it’s worth the lengthy wait!
Verdict: Stick to the dumplings and you won’t be disappointed!
